Thank you very much for your advice.  Unfortunately, the directions below did
not work.  Notice, I'm using linux-sun-jdk1.4.1, not jdk1.4.1.  You probably
knew that.  I modified the directions accordingly, but they still did not work.
Also note that this is a stock 4.8RC2 system that I just built from scratch.
I look forward to any additional advice you can offer.
