http://people.freebsd.org/~peter/p4db/chv.cgi?CH=10618 Change 10618 by rwatson@rwatson_curry on 2002/05/01 17:39:43 mac_ifoff: a small policy module that prevents premature or inappropriate access to network interfaces. Load this in the pre-kernel loader mechanism to prevent access to the network interface before it's administratively enabled. Otherwise, network protocol stacks have a nasty habit of sending out or receiving packets on networks where you'd rather they didn't. This module makes it easier to bring up a machine "silently" on a network without pulling out the cable or network card.
