For people looking at sophisticated backend support, rather than an actual
HTML editor, then the following might be of interest:

PHP   (http://www.php.net/) a server side scripting extension, can 
      be embedded in apache as a module, see ports collection.

Zope  (http://www.zope.org/) an dynamic web publishing environment
      incorporating and object database, requires python.
