Read all the docs I think apply, still frustrated. @.1.5 seemed to install more easily all the way around. Using Novice, got the usual blow up when I selected "everything" to install into 700 Mb. But trying just "developer" (kernel and X with sources) didn't fare much better. Had to manually use xf86config, and the results don't seem to recognise my garden variety 1 Mb cirrus logic 5424. Comments out the VIdeo Ram 1024 line. I usually login as root on the first screen (alt F1) then as user pb on the second (alt F2). When I enter startx as pb, root's screen (alt F1) flashes by before the Xserver message come up. That's strange. I've searched the Cirrus documentation for Linear and "memBase options, and could find no references to those x addresses like 0x4e00--0 and the like, and uncommenting them killed my system -- had to do a cold boot. XSe45rver won't use accelerator functions, either. HELP! (pls)
