Nobody knows what the actual root cause is, so at the moment there is nothing
to fix.  A workaround is to just start Xorg again, and then it might work.

If I would have to guess now, I would say there's some bug in qemu that is
triggered by the int10 x86 emulator.  It is not strictly related to
virtualization, since the problem does not occur at all in VMware: no matter
how many times I restart Xorg, it always works correctly.
