You can get the latest version of ppp from http://www.Awfulhak.org/ppp.html if you're interested - the ``alias'' command has been superceded by the ``nat'' command (although ``alias'' is still supported). WRT an MS-LIKE VPN, the design of PPTP seems quite horrible to me.
