I had that problem and a mkdir /usr/local/lib/aout make -DNOCLEAN upgrade restarted the process and everything seemed to be working fine when I left for classes this morning. It was rebuilding XFree86 when I left because when I tried running it it could not find libXmu. I figured an ELF rebuild could not hurt.
