I've been running with openssl changed this way for a couple of weeks now, all happy. I thought that I'd reported this to the list, but perhaps not. I'm still confused why the base libhx509.so doesn't have a dependency reference to the crypto lib, but clearly that is neither here nor there. (Adding one did "fix" my compilation problems, though.)
