You may need to explicity give the location to your kernel on the Boot: prompt, then rebuild your kernel with the proper location on the 'kernel' config line. ie, if your root is on the second disk, type: wd(1,a)/kernel Or on the first: wd(0,a)/kernel Hope this helps. Also, if you're running 2.1, you might catch the 2.2-RELEASE bus when it comes by -- 2.1.0 is pretty old.
