Not really. People place different values on the charters but as a rule it's wise to pay attention to them. If you ask a technical question here there's a reasonable chance it will get answered, the list isn't just absolute beginners, but then you'll also probably get told you should have asked on -questions. Certainly it's a better place to get results from, whereas -newbies is a good place to find out about how/what to ask. >I have one issue I wanted to discuss with experienced folks: > >I'm having trouble getting FreeBSD to recognize a Cardbus Ethernet >adapter. > >But.. y'know .. how I solve the issue will probably be followed up >with questions about whether to find that .conf file and how to find >the directory. I'm a bit of newbie after all. Well try making that clear, point out you're learning and not quite sure where everything is just yet, (hint: start in /etc ) and you'll probably get a good answer. Most people include the full path to files in answers anyway, it makes things much clearer for everyone, but providing you're polite and make your situation clear people will help. As a starting point you should include information about things you've tried, any errors you're getting, stuff like that. Fwiw you seem to have a leg up on many people asking for help because you're actually thinking about how to get the best response.
