Hello, I just noticed some strange behaviour of my FreeBSD 4.0 router (a k6-2 450 with 128 MB RAM so not an old machine). I connected to it through SSH (using NT and puTTY) and did an /usr/src# make installworld what uses quite a few sysresources: wouldn't really about that but the following looks REALLY bad to me (this ping is done from my NT box which is 10.2.2.150 and has got it's gateway at 10.2.2.4 (the machine doing installworld) primarly for testing purposes): Ping wird ausgeführt für 10.2.3.50 mit 32 Bytes Daten: Antwort von 10.2.3.50: Bytes=32 Zeit<10ms TTL=254 Zeitüberschreitung der Anforderung (Timeout). Zeitüberschreitung der Anforderung (Timeout). Antwort von 10.2.3.50: Bytes=32 Zeit<10ms TTL=254 Does this mean FreeBSD 4.0 STABLE drops packages while under heavy load? SSH from 10.2.2.150 to 10.2.3.50 was REALLY slow as well as the internet connection which uses 10.2.3.50 as NAT gateway for both other machines (again, just for testing purposes). Does anyone have a solution beside my speculations? Best regards, Gabriel
