Hello everyone, I have built a kernel for a 3.1-STABLE box with a couple of
PII 300.

I have used 2 keyword:
options SMP # Symmetric MultiProcessor Kernel
options APIC_IO # Symmetric (APIC) I/O

but I wonder what does these (found in LINT) mean ...

# Optional, these are the defaults plus 1:
options NCPU=5 # number of CPUs
options NBUS=5 # number of busses
options NAPIC=2 # number of IO APICs
options NINTR=25 # number of INTs

NCPU is obviusly to set to 2, but the others ???
Are they needed or can improve performance ?

Here are some parts of my dmesg output:

Thanks for your time.
Please cc. also to my email address because I can't read question right now...
