What is the contents of your "smb.conf" file? Can you ping the Samba box by IP number and/or name? What type of security mode are you using? Though I cannot "see" the shares in Network Neighborhood, I've tried to mount the share by IP address and share name, and have gotten a prompt. After typing the password, I get an error "login not allowed from this machine." Did you check the "hosts allow" in smb.conf? There are many books about SAMBA, the O'Reilly Samba book is on-line at www.samba.org. I happen to have D. Baines' "Samba Black Book", published by Coriolis. It is not a rehash of the Samba docs, explains the issues and gotcha's when Samba is in the same network as a NT server. Check it out at bookstore.
