That's the plan but if you want to test it you should be able to clone =
the repo and build the KLDs, eg:
git clone --depth 1 --branch 9pfs =
https://github.com/DanielO/freebsd-src.git 9pfs
cd 9pfs/sys/dev/virtio/9pnet
make && sudo make install
cd ../9pfs
make && sudo make install

Then to use it:
kldload virtio_9pfs
mount -t virtfs somesharename /some/mount/point
