Sender: owner-current@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Don't hold back for lack of documenation. It's coming. The perl newsgroups are getting very perl4-hostile. I agree with them -- perl5 is a far better system and perl4 should die die die. I've been using perl5 as the default perl on my FreeBSD systems since long before perl5 had it's first official release. I've never looked back. Perl4 is a crippled langauge by comparison. There are relatively few incompatabilities. I'm not sure if there are any pre-printed perl5 books available yet. >From the table (below) it seems that there might be. -Dave (See http://perl.com/perl/info/documentation.html) Author Title Publisher Media Price ========================================================================== Perl Programmers Larry Wall, Tom Reference Guide Christiansen, et (~500 pages of none Internet FREE al. postscript or html covering the latest release of Perl) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Christian Neuss The Webmaster's & Johan Vromans Handbook: Perl Power Int'l Thomson CD $30 for Your Web Server -------------------------------------------------------------------------- William E.
