Also read this article at http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/bsd/2000/06/14/FreeBSD_Basics.html?page=1 Between these two documents you should be able to do what you want. If you have a winmodem type modem {IE no onboard controller) then it will not work with FBSD unless you also install the winmodem driver port from http://www.geocities.com/wtnbkysh/ there are several versions and I don't know which one to tell you to use. Find some install instructions from somebody that installed the winmodem drivers at http://www.personal.psu.edu/faculty/r/e/reh18/A21p/A21p.html#Modem These winmodem divers are new on the scene and very leading edge. Please complete this posting thread by posting your results so people who find the thread when searching about this subject will have a complete picture about the outcome of this information.
