If I understood comment #37 correctly, there are two CLs: one that fixes the
cause of the issue and one that just has the Go linker set the LA48 bit on the
binaries it generies.  The former is tricky to port for sure, but as said in
the part you cited, the other one is quite straightforward.  So why not apply
that as a site patch instead?
