The last time I tried it, on a 5.1-Release box, you had to apply a binary patch to make it work, as described in this old message from the freebsd-current list. http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=1035474+0+archive/2003/free bsd-current/20030601.freebsd-current It's kind of an ugly process to have to go through.
