If you ever need to add any other workstations to the network, you will want to ensure that the IP you added to FreeBSD manually does not fall within the DHCP scope of the gateway. For instance, if you plug a Windows PC into the gateway, it will by default request an address via DHCP. If the gateway provides the Windows PC the same address as FreeBSD, you will have communication problems. Regards, Steve
