Hmmm ... the disk in question is a Maxtor 300GB USB attached disk (using atausb instead of umass) which is barely half a year old ... i understand bad blocks Can happen though at anytime and i obviously hope this is not the case as i'll be having to find alternate storage for well over 200GB of data in that case pretty soon. -- Pascal Hofstee
