Hi all, I would like to test mysql-5.0.18 (from ports) performance under FreeBSD-7.0-CURRENT. gw# uname -an FreeBSD gw.micom.mng.net 7.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #3: Thu Mar 23 10:28:46 ULAT 2006 tsgan@gw.micom.mng.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GW i386 I have few questions regarding this: 1. What malloc options should I use? phkmalloc or jemalloc? How can I use it? 2. What threading libraries should I try? (libmap.conf examples will be useful) 3. Is there anything should I consider when measuring the time? (maybe related to gettimeofday or kern.timecounter settings) 4. Does anybody have recent mysql performance test results under FreeBSD-7.0-CURRENT? If so what options and configurations are used? 5. Do I need any patches that aren't in source tree? 6. What testing program should I use? supersmack or something else? I appreciate if somebody can guide me through all the steps that are required for the test. I think if we create some sort of guide or faq, it would be very useful for not only me but also for others who may come later in this regard. thanks in advance, Ganbold
