Now I think people are rushing to conclusions. What I understood from the SGI people I met is that they're planning to make their NT systems to optionally boot to Linux. The other systems will still be running IRIX, which is still under ongoing development. AFAIK, it is not true that IRIX will be replaced by Linux.
