That doesn't matter. It is the tag= that matters. If you are using
tag=RELENG_4, you will build a system that identifies itself as

FreeBSD crystal 4.4-STABLE FreeBSD 4.4-STABLE

My cvsup-file looks like

crystal# cat stab*
# listed at http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/mirrors.html.
*default host=cvsup8.FreeBSD.org
*default base=/usr
*default prefix=/usr
*default release=cvs tag=RELENG_4
*default delete use-rel-suffix
src-all
