I don't really like how FreeBSD formats [some] large man pages (I need to take another look at AIX as I recall I liked that way they did it). I do agree that pages like major.9 could easily be merged, but I didn't really know what to name it (I've been reading man pages for eight years, but I just started writing them last week .. Any suggestions would be welcome :-)). To speed the process of writing these things I am going to throw together a little Swing app that will dump out the same format everytime, and I will try and come up with a layout that is easy to scan for what you want while maintaining the look and feel of older pages.
