This presumes that the relationship between the employee and the employer is a "work for hire" arrangement. With respect, this may not be true. It is my understanding that "The FreeBSD Project, Inc." employs Jordan, and that the arrangement for Jordan's time is via contract between Walnut Creek CDROM and The FreeBSD Project, Inc. for the delivery of master CDROMs, and some other tangential matters such as release schedules and guarantees about frequency of release. I believe the reference to Jordan being an employee of Walnut Creek CDROM is historical, or is a convenience for tax purposes. That being said, all of the above is hearsay, and could stand to be definatively corrected by the only person who can correct it at this time, which would be Jordan. Alternately, I believe the articles of incorporation are available from the office of the Secretary of State, should this be truly important to you (i.e. worth more than a list posting to find out).
