I think the issue may be that Aureal won't release their chip specs without paying some exhorbitant fee. I spoke with various people in their company about getting an SDK, or even just documentation as to how the chips work. For a fee of around $US20k, they'd be happy to send them to me. On top of which, I couldn't release the source, nor the specs. The company appears to be in disarray in general. I remember reading something about their executive team leaving all at once.
