I am looking into purchasing a 7506-8 card for use with RAID5 (with a minimum of 5 or 6 drives to start), and I haven't seen it mentioned in the recent posts to this mailing list in a RAID5 context. Has anyone actually used such a card in a RAID 5 configuration? Is it bootable under FreeBSD? Any caveats? The drives will most likely be 120G Western Digital drives, with 8M cache. Another (non-FreeBSD) question related to this card: The 3ware.com site lists this card as "PCI 2.2 compliant 64-bit/66MHz bus master". Would this card work in a 32-bit/33MHz PCI slot (at least until I also get a new machine to put it in)? My main concern here is reliability, not speed, but I don't want to waste half of the capacity on a mirrored configuration. Any suggestions for other cards that would work with FreeBSD in the 6-drive RAID5 configuration I'm planning are welcome. Thank you Alex PS: Please Cc: replies to me if possible. ------------+------------------------------------------------------- Alex Popa, | "Computer science is no more about computers than razor@ldc.ro| astronomy is about telescopes" -- E.
