I can't give you a good explanation of the differences between the two, but I can tell you that just yesterday I downloaded the BSDI version of Netscape Navigator and ran it on FreeBSD 2.1R with little difficulty. All I had to do to get it to work was set the XNLSPATH and XKEYSYMDB variables. It came with two files ('C' and 'nls.dir') that it needed, but were not included with X11R6. Oddly enough, the X11R6 nls directory had an empty subdirectory 'C' instead of a file 'C'. Anyone know anything about what that's all about?
