The reverse is more necessary: an option "NOTGCC" that pulls support out of the Attics for all the functions that depend on gcc features (mostly ones with inline asm). I wouldn't worry about it until we have a non-gcc compiler. Try compiling the kernel with lcc or lint to see how much it depends on gcc. Bruce
