(I think you meant 1GB up there. :-) ) yes, BSD and SysV are _very_ different, in fact two disjunct branches of UNIX. the best place for info on FreeBSD is the web site: http://www.freebsd.org. Under "Documentation" is the Handbook, which is the somewhat comperhensive manual, as well as a book list of recommended titles.
