To keep us from suggesting what you have already tried, could you send
us your *.mc file and resulting *.cf file that was installed to
/etc/sendmail.cf (and then sendmail was SIGHUPed, right?)? Feel free
to trim down the *.cf file to the part labeled 'local info.'

You almost never can provide too much detail about the problem.
