The bandwidth ain't there, and if it was, the swithcing point bandwidth isn't there either. The internet isn't a viable option for massive replacement of our telephone network. It's fine for experimenters, and I've been one of them, but if it stopped being experimental, and everybody joined in, this would be a disaster. ========================================================================== Chuck Robey chuckr@eng.umd.edu, I run FreeBSD-current on n3lxx + Journey2 Three Accounts for the Super-users in the sky, Seven for the Operators in their halls of fame, Nine for Ordinary Users doomed to crie, One for the Illegal Cracker with his evil game In the Domains of Internet where the data lie.
