Does this pertain to you? (http://www.freebsd.org/releases/4.4R/hardware-i386.html) The following CD-ROM type systems are supported at this time: SCSI interface (also includes ProAudio Spectrum and SoundBlaster SCSI) ( cd(4)) Matsushita/Panasonic (Creative SoundBlaster) proprietary interface (562/563 models) ( matcd(4)) Sony proprietary interface (all models) ( scd(4)) ATAPI IDE interface ( acd(4)) If so, a guess would be to try to use the matcd-driver. Or take the disk out and insert it into another machine, install in that one and then put the disk back in the 486. /M On 12-Nov-2001 James Stapley (Discus) wrote: > Hi, > > I am trying to install FreeBSD 4.4 on an old machine I found in the > basement to act as a very basic webserver and for me to play around with > a unix like environment.
