Let me answer my own question.  Operator error!.
I am not exactly an expert on W95/TCP setup...
I failed to actually find a live tcp port on the W95 box
on the 1st go around but got some local help
and just proved to myself that I can crash it
with the code supplied to this list.  So the code works ...
well you know what I mean.
