I've been spending the past few days trying to get KDE2 from anoncvs to
work on my 5.0-CURRENT machine, totally unsuccessfully. I can get it to
compile and then run 'startx', but it appears to hang on the ksmserver
process ...

Will Andrews, who is working on the KDE2 ports, has the same thing running
on his 4.1RC system, so I'm starting to wonder if the "bug" is in FreeBSD
vs KDE2 ...

From what I've been able to determine, the 'hang' is in ksmserver, which
is the last thing that 'startkde' runs. After it hangs, I've done a
'gcore' of the process, with the results showing the following:

I'm at a loss as to where to look from here ... but if the same code
appears to be working fine under 4.1RC and not 5.0-CURRENT, suspecting a
bug in KDE2 appears to be the wrong path to be searching ...

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions on where further to look?

Thanks ...
