I expect it's higher than that if you add more precision. First, most users (more than 90%) never fool with software configuration *at all*, though that's probably lower than average for FreeBSD users. Second, absent the cvsup issue, there's no good reason to change them. Finally, if you do change them, it's another file you have to update by hand. > > In any case, to the original poster, regardless of how you decide to > > schedule your updates, you'll alleviate the problem by doing as was > > suggested and reading the manpage, or (a better solution imho, but > > reading the manpage anyway is always a great idea) condensing the > > three seperate cvsupfiles you have into one and only invoking one > > copy of cvsup to begin with. At this point it's possible to run cvsup from the supplied supfiles by hand; there's no need to edit them at all if you want all of src, ports or doc. If having people run one cvsup instead of two or three would be a real improvement, why not provide "sample" combined supfiles, and then dike the support for running more than one sup out of /usr/src/Makefile? Maybe do it in two steps - combined supfiles with a note in updating to encourage people to use them, then the dike. http://www.mired.org/home/mwm/ Independent WWW/Perforce/FreeBSD/Unix consultant, email for more information.
