I liked rc.conf where it was. /etc/rc, /etc/rc.conf. /etc/rc.local, /etc/rc.conf.local. Simple and obvious. Now we have /etc/defaults/rc.conf, /etc/rc.conf, and /etc/rc.conf.local.
