https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=199046 Bug ID: 199046 Summary: sysutils/screen: Custom system-wide screenrc should not be installed by default Product: Ports & Packages Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: Individual Port(s) Assignee: cy@FreeBSD.org Reporter: danny@dannywarren.com Flags: maintainer-feedback?(cy@FreeBSD.org) Assignee: cy@FreeBSD.org A custom system-wide screenrc was added to sysutils/screen back in November of 2014, as ports r373436. The option to install the custom screenrc is enabled by default, so that option is built with the package as well. The custom screenrc is not a patched version of the upstream screenrc, but a replacement screenrc with different options set and zero comment documentation. For comparison, here is the upstream stock screenrc: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/screen.git/tree/src/etc/screenrc And here is the custom screenrc that is installed by default on freebsd now: http://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/sysutils/screen/files/screenrc.sample?view=markup&pathrev=373436 As someone who hops around on different platforms, it is confusing to have screen's default configuration be so drastically different on freebsd. Could we remove SYSTEM_SCREENRC from OPTIONS_DEFAULT so that screen's behavior is consistent with upstream unless otherwise requested during compile?
