I found the following message in the archives and I did it and now Java works! I also did a 'xset fp rehash' before I tried it. I didn't need to unset anything though, just the 'mkfontdir' from the fonts/misc directory. Thanks! Also thanks to everyone else who made suggestions. ----------------------------- Begin archive message --- Date: Mon, 20 May 1996 16:58:23 -0700 (MST) From: Terry Lambert <terry@lambert.org> To: edward@cpm.telrad.co.il (Edward Beili) Cc: questions@freebsd.org Sender: owner-questions@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Netscape 3.0beta and Java in FreeBSD > Last night I tried the latest Netscape 3.0 beta on FreeBSD 2.1R > (486DX33 with 8Mb of RAM). Here is one fix (as root): cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc /usr/X11R6/bin/mkfontdir There is also an environment variable (with a "C" in it if I remember) that you should *unset* for JAVA to work.
