It would be good if it installed along with the port - I am fairly certain that it does for gcc 3.2 and 3.3 after all. The ideal solution, of course, would be for it to install along with the base system gcc. I am going to find it very hard to explain to people why then need to install a gcc34 port on a system which has a native gcc34 compiler, just in order to get a 10k library file! -pete.
