Date: Wed, 27 Aug 1997 21:08:44 +0200 From: Marko Schuetz Sender: owner-freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk I have a Toshiba Portege 610CT, which to my knowledge has a ESS688 sound chip that should be SoundBlaster compatible. I tried different setups of the kernel including IRQs 5 and 7, but when sending kinetic% file audio.au audio.au: Sun/NeXT audio data: 8-bit linear PCM [REF-PCM], mono, 11127 Hz this file to /dev/audio I get short bursts of noise followed by a short pause and this repeats. In the pauses Sound: DMA timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error? is issued to the console. This is starting to become frustrating! What am I doing wrong? Marko
