Hello there,
I am a newbie to FreeBSD and I have been building a
RAID system that will be have to be administered remotely. My employer
wants 3.1 Release on it.

I was given a DPT 3444UW controller with 2 channels. This is causing
problems as the 'Storage Manager' software does not seem to be able to
reside on FreeBSD 3-1 release. This means NO remote maintenance of the
arrays.

Can anyone help with a remote configuration or is anyone using DPT's
Storage Manager remotely?

I have 8 x 4.5Gb drives - 2 will RAID1 and 6 will be RAID5.
I have been told that I have to knock down the transfer rate, on the 6
drive array, to 10Mhz(10Mb per second) is this correct?

Any help gratefully accepted.
Rgds,
