I just noticed it the night before, and the machine I noticed it on has no way to send mail, and I don't have a current NetBSD tree on this machine. The code in question is in ftruncate() in one of ufs/ffs/*alloc.c, I think ffs_balloc.c. Sorry I can't be more specific.
