Hi all-- I posted previously, and I'm rereposting that I'm still unable to build jdk15. I'll try again to provide more details. One question is where can I find a guide to the installation process? I've been using this list and the freebsd java page: http://www.freebsd.org/java/. If I don't get help soon, I'm switching to Linux... just kidding. So, here goes again, these are the steps I've taken and the error details are at the end. 1) Linux compatability I added this on initial installation of FreeBSD 6.0-release. I have the following in /etc/fstab: linprocfs /compat/linux/proc linprocfs rw 0 0 and this seems to be working properly. 2) cvsup of ports-base and ports-java to release=cvs, tag=. 3) make install of linux-sun-jdk14 ran successfully. $ java Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Can't detect initial thread stack location Usage ... 4) make install of jdk15 fails. /usr/ports/distfiles contains: bsd-jdk15-patches-2.tar.bz2 jdk-1_5_0-bin-scsl.zip Error details follow: ---------------------- Patching file j2se/src/solaris/transport/socket/socket_md.c using Plan A...
