Animabob would be a good candidate for a FreeBSD port.  It is a 3d
volume renderer for "brick-of-bytes" style matrix data.  I use it for
FDTD.  I have a fledgling GNU tools version of it.  The original used
imake, and I converted it to GNU-tools so I could port it to Cygwin. 
The Cygwin version has had over 5000 downloads in recent months.
