Ok guys You guys nailed it..... my CTX laptop is now VERY VERY HAPPY and connected
to the net with the NetGear pcmcia network card, and the PAO patches under
FreeBSD-2.2.8, it was after all a run for the money but it works now, connected
via cable modem and dhcp... hehehehhehe it was an irq conflict... apparently this
laptop does very strange things with its hardware, being as it loaded, usb,
infrared, pcmcia, ps/2 name it it has it

the low down on my config

com0 irq 9 Hrmmm
com1 irq 3 looks ok
lpt0 irq 4 odd huh
pcmcia netgear ethernet card irq 7,

if i put the com ports at their standard irqs and lpt to 7 where it should be, i
get nada.... if i re-araange them all is good and working.

this is exactly how microcrap winblows98 saw it, so i reconfigured the kernel to
use the same irqs that windows was using and low and behold the darn thing works
now, even runs blackbox, windowmaker, or enlightenment on a NeoGraphics 2 meg
video card with a ps/2 mouse..... at 800x600, it will also do 1024x768 but you get
that darn scrolling screen..... lastly i still cannot figure out what up with the
cdrom, it locks solid when i try to access it , but at least i can get on the net
and install the ports needed... ill deal with the cdrom problem later

thanks to everyone who finally helped out
