[to -amd64, unsure if it should better go to -stable]

Hello Folks,

Since the archives turn up nothing but dead threads, I'd like to
raise the issue once again: It seems to me, that on certain 
configurations (like mine), cpuqfreq does not work together with 
AMD 64 X2 CPUs. Note that this is running in 32-bit mode, for
the lack of 64-bit nVidia drivers.

The machine has never been able to use powernow since upgrading
last year and cpufreq has consistently failed with

device_attach: powernow0 attach returned 6

(pruned verbose dmesg attached)

Any ideas or suggestions how I can help to track down the problem?
