I recently removed the card and dropped it into a newly constructed 2.2.1 system. I used the exact same configuration from the 2.1.0 system: controller snd0 device gus0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 12 drq 1 flags 0x3 vector gusintr [I've also tried it without the flags]. The 2.2.1 system sees the card: gus0 at 0x220 irq 12 drq 1 flags 0x3 on isa gus0: [Where's the CS4231?] PCM device 2 not installed. I don't understand what the "Where's the CS4231?" means; I don't recall seeing it in the 2.1 system. Also The "PCM" line comes immediately after the "gus0" lines; dunno if they are related... Anyway I tried catting some .au files to the /dev/audio0 device; the device is configured as lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 6 Apr 22 18:17 /dev/audio@ -> audio0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 30, 4 Jan 12 19:25 /dev/audio0 the data appears to be flowing to the device, but nothing comes out the speakers. Any clues? I've done the archive search thing but didn't find anything... Much obliged, Mike PS - A REALLY nice feature to add to the archive search utility would be to bring stuff back with the latest messages first, and even better would be to have common subjects grouped... The current search engine returns stuff in an apparently random order. :-) +--------------------------------------+------------------------------------+ | Mike Newell | The opinions expressed herein | | Affiliation: | are mine.
