From what I know pkg doesn't check /etc/make.conf to see what options you might want overridden; I don't think packages are available with all the combinations of options. I might be wrong and there might be a public repo that uses linux-c6. /etc/make.conf is sourced when you compile something from ports for example. -- Andrei
