It seems to check for Berkley DB headers correctly but not for the libraries, getting this result: checking for db41/db.h... yes checking whether db is at least 4.1... yes checking for dbopen in -ldb41... no checking for __db185_open in -ldb41... no checking for dbopen in -ldb41... no checking for __db185_open in -ldb41... no configure: error: db library not found. Use the correct -L flag, or install the Berkeley db development package. ===> Script "configure" failed unexpectedly. Checked on FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE and 8.3-RELEASE that have successfully built libreoffice 3.4 previously. Setting $LDFLAGS to the LOCALBASE location seemed to fix this. I googled and found a handful of other people had encountered this also. fyi, -omar siddique
